KISS' PAUL STANLEY, TOMMY THAYER Perform Surprise Acoustic Set At Art Collectors Dinner

October 13, 2008

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley's traveling art exhibition opened this past Saturday (October 11) at Washington, D.C.'s Wentworth Gallery at Tysons Galleria, with Stanley on hand to greet guests. Following the gallery show, Wentworth Gallery held an exclusive "invitation-only" private dinner and evening with Stanley at the Ritz Carlton in McLean, Virginia. 30 art collectors from around the country feasted on a multi-course dinner of filet mignon and roasted sea bass while surrounded by new art works including abstracts and portraits. Each course of the dinner featured a star shaped food item beginning with star crab cakes and concluding with assorted star shaped pastries and chocolates. Paul, along with KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer, ate each course at different tables, spending quality, one on one time with all guests.

Everyone who attended agreed the highlight of the six-hour party was an unannounced surprise of Paul and Tommy performing an acoustic set of KISS and THE BEATLES classics.

In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, Stanley spoke about his art, saying, "It's been terrifically successful. And the great thing is I never expected it. I paint for myself. If no one else likes it, at least I do. I have never approached things to please other people in both art and music."

Stanley explained the crowds who usually come to check out his work are a diverse bunch: "I see people at the gallery who will never go to a KISS show and people at a KISS show that will never go to the gallery. And then there are some people in between."

KISS recently wrapped up a European tour and is busy planning a 35th anniversary tour for 2009.
